Time to turn up the heat with this jar of Zhoug!
Zhoug is a chunky, flavorful Middle Eastern-inspired green chili paste that blends fresh and dried herbs, spices, and garlic with roasted red peppers. Zhoug is traditionally paired with beef, lamb, chicken, and shrimp kebabs or as an addition to your favorite homemade hummus. It’s a hot sauce with a fresh, aromatic flavor that is popular in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries.
My Zhoug recipe is a version of the Middle-Eastern salsa that’s made from dried herbs, garlic, jalapenos, cumin, and chili flakes. The result is a zesty sauce with a slow burn that’s perfect for hummus, in sandwiches, salad, on eggs, or right off the spoon!
Full of flavor, a jar of bold, tangy, and spicy Zhoug is something EVERYONE should have on-hand.
