Kitchen Hacks: Spice Up Your Life!

Welcome to my first edition of #, where I share a weekly tip for making your kitchen, easier, safer, and healthier.

This week, it’s all about GINGER!

Fresh ginger is a staple in my fridge. Ground, powdered ginger doesn’t stand up to it in taste or spice. My local supermarket stocks fresh ginger with the garlic and hot chilis, so it’s never hard to find!

But sometimes the funky-shaped root can be tricky to navigate if you aren’t used to it.

But it’s oddly shaped and hard to peel!
Peel your ginger with a spoon. It can get in the crevices of ginger to get rid of that paper-y skin, without wasting too much of that spicy flesh.

But I can’t use it all before it shrivels up!
Keep fresh ginger in the freezer, pre-peeled. It will make it easier to add to dishes, less “stringy”, and keep it fresher, longer.

Ugh, it’s such a pain to chop!
Grate frozen ginger instead of chopping – it’s an easy way to get small pieces to incorporate BIG flavour!
