I love halvah. I talk about it all the time, try to sneak them into most of my recipes, and I try to convince people that it’s good for them. Because it is!

Halvah is a popular sweet treat in the Middle East and India. It’s made from sesame seeds, which are ground and mixed with various flavorings. You can use it in both savory and sweet dishes. This halvah pancake recipe gets savory and sweet flavors from a blend of almond flour, tahini, and coconut sugar.

Halvah Pancakes

Ingredients
- ½ cup whole wheat flour
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tbsp sesame seeds
- ¼ tsp cardamom, ground
- 2 large eggs
- ⅓ cup tahini
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- ¾ cup plant based milk
Preparation:
- In a medium bowl, combine flours, baking powder, sesame seeds, and cardamom.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, tahini, maple syrup, and milk. Add to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat coconut oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat.
- Add batter, ~¼ cup at a time to the frying pan, cooking for 3-4 minutes,or until bubbles begin to form.
- Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Stack & enjoy!
