If you love kebabs, this recipe is for you, it’s a nutrition x kitchen take on a Turkish Adana Kebab Recipe using vegan Impossible meat. It’s a concept to wrap your head around! This recipe for Vegan Turkish Style Adana
Turkish food is seriously delicious. We spent a week eating our way through Istanbul, consuming enough baklava to last a lifetime (the limi does not exist!), stuffed grape leaves, and strong coffee. Our favourite part? A private cooking class where we stuffed grape leaves, spiced lentil soup, and the better half of a local white wine. While I found that Istanbul was relatively veggie-friendly (all the side dishes and pickles!), I did find that as a non-meat eater, I missed out on some traditional foods, like Adana Kebab – a spiced ground lamb kebab grilled over a charcoal or open flame that was sold on just about every street corner. Luckily, I recreated it using Impossible food burger meat in my home kitchen. And who says you can’t travel during quarantine?!
If you’ve never tried Impossible Foods, this stuff is seriously meaty. Like also scary how similar, from the color to taste. Seriously, look at that texture! Whether you use Beyond Meat, Impossible, or whatever you can find at your local shop, the blend of cumin, sumac, garlic, golden raisins, and a touch of cinnamon is seriously delicious
I like serving my Vegan Turkish Style Adana Kebabs with a simple carrot and tomato salad, and a carrot salad I learned in a Turkish cooking class – recipe to come!
